Welcome to my website! I have been fascinated with photography since I was about 11 years old. One event started me on the road to photography when I was travelling with my family out West with an insta-matic camera. I saw sea lions off the coast of California, but they were so far away that I couldn't take a good photo of them. At that moment I decided that I needed a better camera!
I bought my first camera, a Pentax K1000, by mowing lawns and putting my gear on layaway. It took me a almost a year to pay for the camera body and two lenses. I took photography classes in college and learned the basics of composition and film development. A few of years ago I switched to digital with Sony and Minolta lenses, but because of minimal lens options, I switched to Canon products.
I graduated from Central Michigan University in 1993 with a BS degree in Biology. I currently live in the San Francisco area with my wife and three children and work for a medical device company. In my spare time, I enjoy being out in the field with my camera as well as fishing, hunting, and anything that involves being outdoors in the fresh air.
Birds have become my favorite subjects because there are hundreds of species right out your door and you can find them in just about every environment around the world. Bird photographers that inspire me are Glenn Bartley, Alan Murphy, Matthew Studebaker, Arthur Morris, and many others. Every year this "hobby" develops into more of a passion!.......Enjoy and thanks for visiting!
